[So. Hisoka had a lot to think about, since meeting her father. And more to...marvel and be kind of terrified at after her father did what she asked, technically.
So after she left a very large basket of baked goods at a completely random address, she went and pestered various of Retsu's coworkers for all the publically available data on these slavers she could get. It's possible bribes of cookies were involved. Or they just gave her copies to make her go away. Either way, today's an off-day for the bakery, so someone's been busy with a map and the files. The pattern she's pinned out doesn't mean much to her. But it might to someone who remembers Makoto's reign just a little bit better. Or more specifically, remembers Makoto's generals...
Besides, working on this distracts her from thinking about the other things that are upsetting her right now. So, you know, she's still there on the floor (the map was too big for a table), files and papers everywhere, poking at this long after it's started to get dark and people should be heading home.]

They say you made a bit of a pest of yourself at the office today, Hisokaaaaawhat're you doing?
no subject
[Hisoka this is not just thinking. But she does sit up from the cold and
look up and. Blink.]
...Wait, what time is it?
no subject
[Seriously, he'll just looking down at the map a now and... kind of slowly tilting his head to one side.]
no subject
...Isn't that an actual formation those points are forming...?]
Wha--Oh! Oh, I forgot to start dinner, aa--
[Annnd she's off, which will leave him with the map and papers. It can't be just this bothering her, if she's this distracted. And honestly...if he heard any of her conversation with Lidan, it shouldn't be hard to figure out what actually is.]

He will stand and study the map and consider a few things, though. He doesn't like this pattern.]

Of Makoto's old generals, most of them are dead. Obviously General Thorne still lives, by virtue of being canny enough to keep his fucking head down. Two generals were killed in Brigit's escape. Two more the resistance's Witch killed in their own homes--no one else could have caused a curse like that, not even Betrayal. Two went missing, never to be heard from again...and one was stripped of his rank and banished, never to be heard from again, right around when the current Chief took office, wasn't he? A surprisingly lenient punishment, from Makoto, but...hm.]

So now it is Retsu's turn to crouch down and examine, and deeply consider what is going on here.]

But, Hisoka's coming back out, since dinner is on the table and smells ridiculously good, and kind of...blinking at him.]
Retsuuu...?

[But he'll stand up.]
no subject
[Man she knows the pasta and meat and garlic bread smell fantastic but what?]
no subject
[He will finally shrug his coat off, hit the decoupler that keeps those "floating" plates Renn is so proud of in place, and head for the kitchen.]
no subject
Dinner is fucking amazing, because of course it is.]
Say, you didn't mention there was a second elf among the Judges.
[...Please take the time to be properly horrified she somehow found Renn. Horrified for whom is...a really good question.]
no subject
[So yeah, absolutely no love lost between those two.]
no subject
[She's not saying Kohane's fucking nuts, just that, well. Elf-chick is kind of terrifying.
But she goes a little quiet after that. Bringing up Renn may have been a...segue into something else. Certainly she didn't need to bother him to get all the papers...]

[He's perceptive for a guy who is trying to wolf down a meal, apparently.]
no subject
....There's...some things I should probably tell you, from the other day, but I didn't...really know how to bring it up.

I never knew about anything other than being a healer--and I barely knew much about that, let's be honest--but...he said there was something else. Influence on the people around me.
I didn't want to believe it, so I went to find someone who would be able to tell.
[That...would explain why she was harrassing Renn--he's probably the only living person left who really knows enough about the three sorrows to actually be able to tell
since Kohane doesn't talk about her silver tongue. It's probably easy to infer what the answer he gave her was, too, but if she's exerting any influence now, even unintentionally-- it's not working. Something's dampening it, although the effect's clearly not perfect. ]
Retsu, I--If I...if this power's been with me all along, then I've...

[He's poking at the food on his plate.]
Seriously. Don't be stupid. Unless you need me to react somehow so you'll stop worrying, then what's the point?
no subject
...Seriously? I go and harrass a grumpy elf for something to dampen this because I don't want to have forced anything about how you feel, and you react like I told you it'll snow all week.
[Another sigh--and then she just kind of laughs.] Well, it's fine. In the end, you being a cantankerous bastard is part of what I love about you.
[...Oh. Hisoka, Hisoka that's not nice.]
