well I liked the idea of the catering

[So. Here we are. Somehow, a common baker ended up catering for the Prince's birthday. It's a huge public to-do because Prince Haruhi will take literally any excuse to throw a huge party and run with it, but it means it's probably a nightmare for security.

Hisoka's still not sure how her life came to this. SHe's fidgeting with the very nice, froofy (borrowed) dress she's in and triple-checking everything and generally being a ball of nerves during the final checks before the party starts.

Clearly the person responsible for this should show himself.]

[Oh yeah, that's a knowing smirk.]

I should probably go check to make sure the Prince and the Lord Marshall are taken care of, or dad's gonna kill me.

[She does laugh some more at that smirk, but waves him off to get things rolling. It's fine, flirt with the pretty girl! It's not like there's about to be a large scale assault and hostages are going to be taken, especially one with a heapload of talent as a healer and a pretty face within the first hour of the party!

Wait, no, that's exactly what happened.]

[Of course, that wasn't what happened at all. And you know, it's not like said daddy dearest and the Lord Marshal didn't have the Crown Prince out immediately. So where has Retsu been this time?]

[Studious bakers might notice that he's not the one negotiating for the hostages. In fact, he's not been seen at all.... unless. Wait. Did that vent just open on it's own?]

[Hisoka's been bound and then gagged with tape after she made a valiant series of escape attempts and possibly bit a dude. She starts a little at the vents and so do all the twitchy worldburners guarding her...

...Means she's already attempting to scoot her way to freedom. She might be useless in a fight but girl's got some spark ~~and the kuzuki boys very clearly have a type~~.]

[So. Ever wonder how the patron of that line got the name Godslayer? Because if you needed a demonstration his son just vaulted out of an airvent, launched himself through a hail of gunfire, stole one guy's rifle, killed a few more, used the poor bastard as a shield, and seems to be trying to liberate hostages by murdering everyone involved.]

[He doesn't even seem to notice he got winged a few times in there.]

[Well. She'll wriggle over to something she can use to free her hands. And then get the duct tape off her mouth. And then go free the other hostages before she worries about stopping him.

WHich means...Right, time to yell before he gets his dumb doge butt hurt.]

[He's already bleeding from some grazes, but her yelling means he looks up -- still got the weapon trained on the guy but name?! She said name?!?]

Leave him. [Sighing, and gesturing to the poor remaining dude.]

I'm sure your father and the Lord Marshall will want him alive for questioning and you're bleeding come here.

[SHE IS VERY DISTRESSED WHY YOU BLEEDING.]

[Sure enough the security forces have busted in and dragged him off, which means he'll toss the gun aside and head over there. Yeah he got grazed a few times; the guy literally dodged bullets.]

It was bound to happen.

Is that supposed to make me feel better?!

[Well, it's probably already known to him and everyone who frequents the bakery she works at, but food and drinks made by Hisoka make you feel better. Sniffles, a cold, just a bad morning, they seem to ease everything.

The reason why is she's chock-full of healing power. Sure, most of what she knows is clearly self-taught, but that's probably enough to heal his grazes.

Also you know it means cute girl just got her hands all over him.]

Why'd they send you alone? What if they'd been better shots...

[He is definitely not complaining about the bullet grazes healing or her grabbing him, but he's going to actually reach out and grab her cheek.]

I went in alone because they would be less likely to notice. And they couldn't be a better shot; I was going for their weakest member by his reflexes. There's always someone who can be taken apart. Why are you so upset I did my job?

[She does lean into his hand a little, though.] You're not really that dense, are you...Of course I'd be upset, Retsu.

[Hmm, that sounds a lot like feelings. Let's sure hope this conversation doesn't get interrupted by Isao or, worse yet, Haruhi and Canglong.]

[Shh, pretty boy is petting.]

No, of course not. I'm sorry I worried you. This was just the best way I could think of to save you and the hostages--

[Turning around, then, and uh. Hi your majesty. Sure he can talk. In fact, he'll walk off to do so.]

[Oh yeah. Yeah you are being given the most official sounding shit in your life, Kuzuki Retsu. 'You and the hostages'? Like Miss Fujiwara wasn't a hostage herself, hmm? Goodness it's like you consider her an entire other category! Why haven't you introduced us to someone so remarkable? Although really, you should probably talk to your father, first~

Hisoka's just going to stand here and get the vague feeling she should be offended about something. That's normal for exposure to Haruhi, honey, it's fine.]

[So there's the difference. Isao would have broken the crown prince's jaw at this point. Retsu, though infuriated, will take this until he can toss out a "is that all sir?" and get off the field. It worked though, he's stalking into the crowd to handle official cop stuff.]

[Well, since she was taken hostage, Hisoka's probably being herded through to the royal healers to make sure everyone's okay. ...Which probably embarrasses them because they left her alone for five minutes and she went and just healed everyone on her own.

Eventually, though, she's just milling around and looking sadly at the catering and probably ended up talking to some grizzled old wolf and maybe feeding him because she apparently can't recognize a godslayer on sight and also she's feeling kind of lost and confused and upset. :(

So whenever you get back around, Retsu, she'd really appreciate the company.]

[Isao, at least, has the decency to spare his son's pride, and thanks her and makes an excuse to leave around the same time Retsu walks back.]

I thought they sent everyone home, by now.

...It didn't feel right to just leave.

[Sighing, and picking a little at the tablecloth.]

Hell of a debut, huh?

I'm sure I can get you another catering job again. This whole place is going to be locked down and searched so, I'll have them bring your supplies back to your shop tomorrow.

[He sighs.]

...I think I want to take you up on that drink.

...I probably shouldn't do it here.

[She scratches her cheek a little.] I mean...are you allowed to leave, yet? I don't want to get you in trouble.

The Prince can go to hell; my father and his brother will keep him safe. Let's just go before this gets worse.

[He will be glad to follow her. Look at how upset boy is!!]

They...said I shouldn't go home alone anyway. I have the stuff there, and it'll be quieter, if you want.

[See? He'll even smile again and everything. And yeah, she has his hand.]

[Yes. Let us walk away from this trauma and the endless amount of shit Retsu's going to get after this. Luckily, Hisoka doesn't live that far--there's a teeny-tiny little cottage not too far from the bakery, kind of the midpoint between there and the palace, and the garden is like half the property. Holy shit, so many flowers. SO MANY. Admire them while she fishes her key out of her pocket.]

How do you have time to work to bake and grow this many flowers?

[He's kind of baffled by the number of flowers. WHY SO MANY FLOWERS!? STOP FLOWERS.]
